The children’s home at the St. Petka Monastery in the village Izvor has 92 female residents, severely disabled, most of them immobile, who spend their entire life at the institution. The residents are cared for by the nuns who live in the adjoining monastery.
The “St. Petka” aid program has been established more than 10 years ago in order to provide necessary food and household appliances, which are essential on daily basis to the nuns so they can keep taking effective care of the residents. The program evolved and, with the increasing number of benefactors, turned to remodeling and renovation.
In 2008, we successfully implemented a project with the Infostan and citizens of Belgrade to collect funds and provide aid for this institution.
